Welcome!

Welcome to austinagrodolce … My family and I garden with more intention and enthusiasm than allocated budget or overall design plan. It shows. Wildlife populations don't seem to notice our lack of cohesive design, they just like the native plants here. It seems by growing local we've thrown out a welcome mat. Occasionally, we're surprised at who (and what) shows up.

Belated yet heartfelt

We ended up spending more time at the airport than planned, and had unexpected family visiting, so this post did not appear yesterday as I'd originally hoped.

Nonetheless, I am appreciative of those of you who drop in, regulars or not, and wanted to extend this, a wish from austinagrodolce to all of you, for a meaningful holiday weekend.

Whatever this holiday has come to mean to and for you, I do hope you were able to take good advantage of an extra day away from paid work, perhaps time to get outside and enjoy the days of summer.

Because it is July, and July waits for no-one to break out The Summer.

Happy red,

white,

and blue!

A belated happy 4th to you too, Deb! I love the buddha's hat.

Ha! I'm glad - thanks Kris, in my frustration over not getting the post organized as originally planned (which developed into sort of a theme for the weekend overall) looking at that guy in that hat brought a smile every time.

Great shots, that last a real keeper. Who knew that Buddha rocked red, white and blue so well? Happy belated Independence to you and yours!

Tina: Thank you! That Buddha is a happening guy all right. Hope the rest of your July rocks!

And a belated 4th of July to you! Airports...I used to not mind, now I'm not sure. You have every bloom color covered I would say...but will you as your summer starts to heat up and dry out?

Great celebration in the garden Deb.

David/DryHeat: The Austin airport is easy compared to most, but as this was a huge travel weekend everything was a little slower than usual. Actually most of what I've shown here will hang tough all summer, with the possible exception of the crepe myrtle - those blossoms march to their own drummer. It won't be long now until most of the benefits of the wet Spring will be distant memories. No rain for over a week, none in the forecast, and the afternoon highs (and more significantly, evening lows) are all working their way back up the mercury column. Summertime, here we go!
