An anole, soaking up radiant late afternoon sun against the mass of St. Francis' robes. Warmth from above and below. Mmmm. Toasty.
November brings reminders that actual Winter, in whatever form it will assume here this year, is well on the way. Plants and animals are moving a little more slowly and many are facing weeks of dormancy.
Gather ye sunbeams whilst ye may, little green guy. This year's party is nearly over.

This is my November contribution to Wildlife Wednesday. A once-every-month opportunity on the first Wednesday, to celebrate and appreciate the creatures that populate our outdoor spaces. My ongoing appreciation to Tina at My Gardener Says for creating and hosting.
Want to join the fun? It's easy-peasy. Simply post about your wildlife (it can be informational or entertaining or both!), then place a link to your post in a comment on Tina's blog post for the meme for that month and that's all it takes. Happy November to all - hoping yours will be "wild" in the best possible way.

Quite possibly the most charming thing I've seen in ages! I think my heart melted.
Debra: I have such a crush on anoles. I never get tired of watching them (or photographing them judging by how many photos of anoles have appeared on this blog). Thanks for indulging me. Again!
Why didn't some entrepreneurial clothes designer figure out long ago that St. Francis really does NEED an anole draping from his waist? Such a perfect accessory!
Like you, I love anole lizards--so charming with such personality. Thanks so much for participating in Wildlife Wednesday!
Tina: When I saw that lizard sunning so contentedly on St. Frank I couldn't help but think he'd have been pleased at the company.
I never thought of it before but anoles would be the ideal accessory for liturgical robes. The lizards could simply change colors to match those of the appropriate church season.
Thanks for hosting Wildlife Wednesday!
What a create observation and capture....I wish we had more lizards here.
Donna: Thank you! I bet your heron wishes you had more lizards, too.
You have an eagle eye! It's amazing that he remained in position to have his photo taken. We don't have anoles, just extremely skittish brown lizards but we do have zillions of those.
Kris: Thank you! Anoles get sun drunk. This guy ignored me as long as I stayed a couple of feet away. If it had been a warmer day or I'd cast a shadow over him, he'd probably have skeedaddled.
In additiona, this particular anole is one of several living in the beds close to our front porch. I'm out there all the time so it could be I'm identified as unthreatening?
Loved this! It's a beautiful observation and just right for St. Francis.
Shirley: Isn't it great when creatures just seem to know where to pose? It is as if some of them are old pros and know what they are doing (work it!).
