Welcome!

Welcome to austinagrodolce … My family and I garden with more intention and enthusiasm than allocated budget or overall design plan. It shows. Wildlife populations don't seem to notice our lack of cohesive design, they just like the native plants here. It seems by growing local we've thrown out a welcome mat. Occasionally, we're surprised at who (and what) shows up.

Looking ahead

This weekend we celebrate Mother's Day.  Officially.

I doubt you could be unaware. Everywhere there are constant reminders to do this, plan that, buy this, that or the other, all to celebrate the love expressed between mother and child.
This year I am thinking especially of a couple of women I know who are freshly suffering the recent loss of their own dear Mommas.  I am hoping they will feel not only the inevitable pain and loss that the death of a mother brings, but also joy and gratitude for the love they did share.
Whatever their relationships with their mother, they were shaped in so many ways, and continue to be who they are directly as a result of who their mother was and how she loved them.
I believe with every ounce of my being a mother never really dies.  Her children and then their children will go on to echo her life as long as the sun rises and the birds build new nests in the Spring.

However you celebrate, whoever you remember, Happy Mother's Day.

Thank you, sweet friend. I miss my best friend/momma dearly but I see her daily in the reflection of my mirror and in my children ... she does continue on in us and I will hold tight to that truth this weekend and forever.

As it is written let it be so. Have a lovely remembrance, Ms. Cat. I am certain in my heart your Momma is and always will be with you.

You're back!! I'm so glad!! You completely disappeared for a while and I missed you. Mother's Day. Not a great one for me. No mother. No daughter. But, I do and will remember the gifts I have and am/will be ever grateful. Happy Mom's Day to you.

Tina: Yes - I am back and you are back as well! I totally understand how Mother's Day is not the best for everyone. You do have gifts most definitely and I thank you for the gracious wishes and the time you took to drop in and comment. Onward!
